About Lord Shri Veerabhadreshwara
Lord Shri Veerabhadreshwara is a fierce and powerful manifestation of Lord Shiva, created from his divine anger. He is regarded as a divine form who incarnated to protect righteousness (dharma) and destroy evil (adharma). He symbolizes strength, courage, justice, and protection.
Origin (Incarnation) of Lord Veerabhadra
According to Hindu mythology, Lord Veerabhadra was born from the intense anger of Lord Shiva during the event of Daksha Yajna.
King Daksha organized a grand yajna (sacrificial ritual) but deliberately did not invite Lord Shiva, thereby insulting him. Unable to bear this humiliation, Sati Devi (Shiva’s consort and Daksha’s daughter) sacrificed herself in the sacrificial fire.
Enraged by this tragic event, Lord Shiva plucked a lock of his hair (jata) and threw it onto the earth. From this arose Lord Veerabhadra as a fierce warrior. He went on to destroy Daksha’s yajna and punished adharma (unrighteousness).
